Privacy

Listening requires no account. Favourites stay in the current tab unless you turn on “Remember on this device.” With that choice, station bookmarks remain in this browser’s local storage for future visits, without an account or cloud sync. Turn remembering off to remove the persistent copy. Downloaded backups contain station bookmarks; importing one does not turn remembering on. Optional contribution settings also use storage on your device. You can remove them by clearing this site's browser data.

Station connections

Pressing play connects your device to a third-party station stream. The broadcaster and its hosting providers receive your IP address and normal connection information. Their privacy policies apply. Audio is not relayed or recorded by our public internet player. The receiver directory also links to independent websites; those operators receive your connection information when you visit. Their terms and privacy policies apply. OrangeKraken Radio no longer provides receiver audio relaying, live captions or broadcast translation.

Usage and optional contributions

The application records aggregate activity counts such as page views, station starts, named feature interactions, and countries listened to. These counters are kept for 45 days; they do not represent unique people. Hosting providers may separately process request logs. Contribution sessions use browser session storage. If you opt into contributing observations, submitted results are retained in the research ledger as described in the contribution controls.

Optional listening research

Only when you explicitly agree and submit a report, we retain your selected station ID, its directory country and technical format, the UTC hour, and your playback outcome for research, model training, and evaluation. No audio, transcript, listener location, session token, or browsing history enters the research export. Reports remain unverified. The site retains at most 5,000 reports for up to 90 days; de-identified exports may be retained longer for research. A signed session stays in this browser tab. Daily keyed hashes used to prevent duplicate reports and abuse expire after 24 hours. Aggregate outcome counts join the existing daily usage totals.

Optional meteor research

Only when you explicitly consent and submit, we store the archival observation ID, a fixed-choice classification and the UTC submission hour for research, model training and evaluation. No microphone input, music, personal location, written text, or session identifier enters the research export. A server-signed session is held in page memory. Daily keyed session and network hashes used to limit duplicate or abusive submissions expire after 24 hours. Website reports are limited to 5,000 records and 90 days; de-identified exports may remain in the research record longer. Answers remain unverified, are not treated as independent people or confirmed meteors, and do not automatically enter training.

Local conditions

Weather requests use the selected station’s directory coordinates or an explicitly labelled country reference point, not your device’s location. Forecast data comes through our server from MET Norway. Daylight is calculated; space weather comes from NOAA SWPC. These are not measurements of your internet connection.

Detailed station maps

The world map uses geographic data hosted with this site. When a selected station’s detailed map comes into view, your browser requests only the visible map tiles from OpenStreetMap. OpenStreetMap receives your IP address, normal browser connection information, the referring site, and the map area being viewed. We do not request your device’s location. Their privacy policy applies. Normal browser caching is used; the site does not download map areas for offline use.

Station requests

We privately store the contact email, station information, declarations, and evidence you submit for up to 180 days. They are used to review and respond to station requests. Abuse protection keeps a daily hashed network identifier for up to 24 hours. Approved moderation rules and review references may be retained to maintain corrections, restrictions, or removals. Use the station request page for questions or deletion requests.

Ideas and site feedback

The optional suggestion form privately stores your message, topic, submission time and the selected station ID, if any. It does not ask for a name or contact details; please do not include personal information. Messages are available only to the authenticated owner, are not automatically used for training, and are retained for up to 90 days with a maximum of 500 recent messages. When email forwarding is configured, Resend processes a copy for delivery to the owner’s mailbox. Email copies are managed separately and may be retained beyond the website’s 90-day limit; deleting the website copy does not recall an email. Daily keyed network and duplicate-prevention hashes expire after 24 hours. These product suggestions are separate from consenting listening-research reports.

Offline storage

The optional service worker caches the application shell and static assets. It does not cache external station streams or API responses. Live radio requires an internet connection.
